In Solidarity

At The Infinite U, we unite in solidarity against systemic racism, oppression, and police brutality facing black communities throughout this nation. We have such heaviness in our hearts as we listen to, learn from, and allow ourselves to feel the pain that black people in the US have been enduring for over 400 years. Black Lives Matter.

As Jen White Johnson (https://jenwhitejohnson.com/), parent, artist, and advocate of neurodiverse people of color, teaches, to be pro-neurodiversity is to be anti-racist. The Infinite U is invested in both anti-racism AND anti-oppression work, knowing that people with wiring that is different from the mainstream face systemic oppression on a daily basis, from government to education to healthcare to the workforce and beyond. We also acknowledge the uncomfortable reality that black and brown neurodiverse people are more likely to be victims of police brutality and other systemic oppression than white neurodiverse people.

The Infinite U pledges to our community to continue to examine our own relationships to privilege and marginalization, both as individuals and as an organization, and to take responsibility for any inadvertent harm that we may cause in this ever evolving journey. We also pledge to examine how we can take action at a systemic level to create the change that is so desperately needed.

We are so grateful to work with some of the most sensitive, empathetic members of our community. During these intense times, self-care and gentleness are more important than ever. And so are our voices. One way to take action is to write to your local government asking to reallocate police budgets towards education, social services, and dismantling racial injustice. Defund12.org made it so simple for us. All it takes is the click of a few buttons and an email is sent to the local officials.
